Western Bureau:Zone B heavyweights, defending champions Rusea's High and Frome Technical, will clash in the ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel daCosta Cup today at the Frome Sports Complex.

Frome lead the zone after three straight victories, albeit playing one game more than the defending champions, who have two successive wins for six points entering the top-of-the-table clash.

Both schools are coming off big 4-0 wins Tuesday over Green Island and Merlene Ottey High, respectively.

For Frome, the 2003 Cup winners, getting by Rusea's is paramount to them topping the zone to qualify for the Ben Francis Cup.

"We are prepared for them. I am sure it will be a tough game but most of the players are in their final year, so beating Rusea's and making the Ben Francis Cup is a strong motivation for the team," Frome coach Marvin Quarry reasoned.

Even before the competition began, Rusea's had targeted Frome as the ones most likely to cause them some trouble, but with the champions firing on all cylinders, it is fair to say that Frome could find themselves in the hornet's nest, even in front of home supporters.

intriguing clash

The other intriguing clash today pits the 2009 champions STETHS against Munro College at the STETHS football field in Santa Cruz.

STETHS lead Zone E with maximum nine points. They are followed by Munro who are on six, after suffering a loss to Black River in their second zonal fixture. STETHS then strolled past Balaclava 10-0 while Munro stormed back whipping Lacovia 4-0 to set up today's clash.

Other interesting matchups include Green Pond tackling Cornwall College in Zone A, 2005 winners Godfrey Stewart meeting Petersfield in a key Zone D clash, and Clarendon College hosting Lennon in Zone H.

Over in Zone K, Dinthill Technical battle Bog Walk for control of the zone, while a top-of-the-table clash looms between Glenmuir and Garvey Maceo in Zone M.

Meanwhile, in Zone N, Old Harbour tackle Vere, while Paul Bogle meet Yallahs in Zone O, with the winners set to claim pole position.
