Misrepresenting the facts

THE EDITOR, Sir:

It is very appalling that The Gleaner's two most recent website publications surrounding the impasse between the teacher and the principal of the Marcus Garvey High School, where you seem to suggest that the teacher was absent from school for the dates mentioned in your article as provided to you by the principal, and that the teacher refused to take up the new assignment at the Mansfield campus.

As your article is presented, it would have been very helpful for you to have sought audience with the teacher concerned or even checked with the chairman of the board.

What the principal has carefully chose to keep from you is that the board was already informed of the impasse and has been dealing with the matter.

I would suggest in the future you seek to be more responsible in your journalistic skills as you seek to provide balanced information for the public.
