The Kool Runnings Water Park in the resort town of Negril has shuttered operations until next summer, citing a change in its operating schedule to conform with seasonal traffic.

Kool Runnings will operate as a seasonal business open primarily in the summer period when school is out on summer holidays and families tend to seek out entertainment, according to a news bulletin posted by the Jamaica Tourist Board on its website.

Reopens next may

The park will reopen next May 23. It features 10 water slides spanning about five acres at Norman Manley Boulevard in the resort town.

Attempts to reach Dr Garfield Munroe, the attraction's creative director, were unsuccessful.

Kool Runnings has been in operation since 2007. The park was partly financed by EXIM Bank through a medium-term loan granted under the Modernisation Fund Programme at 12 per cent interest rate, according to EXIM's website.
