Three-time champions Charlie Smith extended their unbeaten run in this season's Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Gatorade/Digicel Manning Cup football competition, after blanking Ardenne 5-0 in their Group G return match at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex yesterday.

Charlie Smith got their goals through Shamar Walsh (13th, 76th), Lennox Russell (58th) Shannon Brown (49th) and Anuna Anderson (81st).

In the group's other games, Kingston College (KC) defeated Meadowbrook 4-0 and St Andrew Technical High School clipped Pembroke Hall 2-1.

Charlie Smith lead the group with 19 points, followed by KC (16) and STATHS (11), whose victory saw them wrest third place from Pembroke Hall (eight), while Ardenne (five) remain fifth and Meadowbrook sixth, having yet to garner a point.

The Arnett Gardens-based Charlie Smith had defeated Ardenne 8-0 in the first round, but coach Jerome Waite was not disappointed that the scoreline was not repeated or bettered.

"If you beat a team 8-0 in the first round, when they come back for the return game they are going to ensure they don't get another eight, so they played tighter in defence today," Waite said.

"We still have a couple more games to play and we are going to continue to rotate the team until this round finishes, and then we think about the second round," he added.

Smarting from the loss, Ardenne's coach Andrew Hines' only remark was "no comment".
