Don't tax remittances

Published: Friday | October 5, 2012 Comments 0

THE EDITOR, Sir:

With reference to Senator Floyd Morris' call for remittances to be taxed, I'm sure he doesn't understand how remittances work.

We send money to help our old folks, and he is proposing that Government act as a pickpocket and 'tek dem money'. Morris needs to get a pay freeze; then he would be hungry enough to start keeping it real about the few bucks we work so hard to help our old people.

He needs to get out of his comfort zone and think creatively, rather than conceive of measures to further oppress poor people.
