Irish expert to add to the downtown rebirth discussions

THE JAMAICA Chamber of Commerce and the Kingston Restoration Company will mark the Eisenhower Day of Fellowship on Friday with a luncheon and public lecture focusing on job creation for urban regeneration.

The main speaker will be 1989 Eisenhower Fellow Dan Flinter, who has had a distinguished career in Ireland.

Flinter spent some 20 years in senior positions with the Ireland Development Agency (IDA), which is charged with attracting international investment into the country primarily in the manufacturing and services sectors.

As executive director of the IDA, Flinter managed its worldwide inward-investment programme.

He has also served as the chief executive officer of Enterprise Ireland, the public body responsible for the development of indigenous industry in the country with a particular focus on export development, increasing research and development, and developing a buoyant venture capital market.

Flinter also chairs the Irish National Tourism Development Authority and its Business Tourism Forum.

The luncheon and public lecturer will be held at the Wyndham Kingston hotel starting at 12:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Kingston Restoration Company.
