THE EDITOR, Sir:
I am a 21-year-old mother of two currently attending the University of Technology (UTech). I got pregnant in fifth form and went to school without anyone know-ing until examination time, but managed to pass seven out of nine subjects.
I had my baby in September and went on to sixth form a month later. I missed out on a lot and had financial problems, but that did not stop me from passing more subjects.
I got my first real job at UTech this year. I am a very determined young woman and I will stop at nothing to get my degree to aid in my country's development and to help young mothers, churches, and persons who have been in my situation or even worse, as well as to help my family.
I started university late, passing all my courses in the first semester. Semester two was rough for me and I failed one course. In my second year at university, I have not got any financial aid for tuition or even lunch.
It is very difficult as a young mother to be faced with the challenge of not getting the funds for university. Please help me. This is my chance to show the world that we can fall, but the persons who need and want a better life will get it. I need and want a better life.
