Erwin wins appeal

Jockey Jevvanne Erwin, who was slapped with a 15-raceday suspension for his indifferent ride aboard BUSY back in March, has successfully appealed the ban.

The Jamaica Racing Commission on September 18 heard his appeal against the decision of the operations stewards to suspend him for the maximum 15 race days.

After viewing the patrol film of the race and hearing and considering the evidence of jockey Erwin, Eustace Williams, the chairman of the Stewards' Panel, and a submission from Ed Barnes, who represented Erwin, the commission was satisfied that the case was not made to support the ruling of the stewards on March 13, 2012, and therefore the appeal was upheld.
