'Bruce' goes for another win

The Jamaica-bred BRUCE-ONTHELOOSE, who has dominated racing in Trinidad and Tobago since 2009, will go for his 19th win at Santa Rosa racetrack tomorrow in the valuable Caribbean Championship Stakes over nine furlongs.

This was disclosed by his trainer, many-time T&T champion John O'Brien, who flew into the island last weekend and visited Caymanas Park on Monday (Heroes Day) in the company of 'BRUCE's' part-owner, Herbie Chung.

BRUCEONTHELOOSE has won three races from four starts this season going into this race, and victory for the 6-y-o grey horse will more than likely ensure him of a fourth consecutive 'Horse of the Year' award. He will be ridden by Nobel Abrego.

BRUCEONTHELOOSE has won 18 races and close to US$500,000 in stakes (over TT$3 million), a record, since arriving in Trinidad and Tobago weeks after losing the Jamaica Derby to HE'S REALLY OK by a short head in an epic last-furlong duel. A decision was taken by his owners, Tres Amigos, to ship him to Trinidad.

Prior to leaving for Trinidad, 'BRUCE' won the 2000 Guineas and the St Leger at Caymanas Park.
