THE EDITOR, Sir:
We would like to thank The Gleaner for the focus on the 2011 census findings. Our feedback suggests that there are persons who are somewhat disappointed now that they had not been more cooperative with the census takers.
I am writing specifically with regard to your editorial in the Friday, October 19, 2012 edition. The editorial suggests that the census has vindicated Mr Mike Henry.
While we agree that Mr Henry had always argued for adequate data to guide more effective policymaking, it was the official statistics provided by the census which he thought were inadequate, and which made him a constant critic.
