SPANISH TOWN, St Catherine:THE ST Jago Past Students' Association is going back to school as it hosts its Annual Awards Dinner and Dance at the school in Ravensworth, Spanish Town. Always a gala event, the awards dinner will be held on November 10, starting with cocktails at 5.30 p.m.

The move to Ravensworth follows the immense success of a 2011 Past Students All-Batch Reunion (ABR) event at the school.

"The ABR showed us that we need to bring past students back to the school," says the association's president, Michael McFarlane.

"Typically, past students move away from Spanish Town for school and work. The ABR brought them back home to St Jago and they loved it. We want to repeat that with the dinner."

Accordingly, this year's event is being held under the theme 'Return to Ravensworth'.

As usual, the dinner is being staged to raise money for the school and President McFarlane says this year's event could go far in that regard.

"Versus other venues, the school provides certain economies that have the potential of leaving more for important St Jago causes," he stated.

Legendary mathematics teacher Selbourne Johnson, Canada-based past student Norma Grant, former board member Rudolph Green, and long-serving staff member Norma Bucknor will be honoured by the association this year.

The St Jago alumni will also be recognising its London 2012 Olympians Yohan Blake, Kerron Stewart, Melaine Walker, Kenia Sinclair, Riker Hylton and Korine Hinds.

Ticket information is available on the association's website and at banquet@stjago.com.
