The Meteorological Service late yesterday announced that an area of low pressure, currently located over the central Caribbean, could lead to an outbreak of showers and thunderstorms over the island today.
"These showers, which may be heavy at times, are likely to be accompanied by strong, gusty winds," said the Met Service.
According to the Met Service, satellite imagery indicates that a large area of disturbed weather associated with a low pressure system was covering much of the Caribbean Sea, south of Hispaniola, up to late yesterday
"Fishers and other marine interests, including those on the cays and banks, should exercise caution, due to deteriorating sea conditions over the next couple of days."
