French animation festival features Jamaican cartoons

The Jamaican public, animation enthusiasts and lovers of cultural diversity are in for a treat beginning today when the Alliance Française of Jamaica will present a French Animated Film Festival.

The free festival, which continues until Thursday, will see movies being screened each evening starting at 6:45 at 12b Lilford Avenue, Kingston 10.

Four full-length French animated movies will be featured during the festival along with Jamaican works, Cabbie Chronicles, by Alison and Anieph Latchman and Kina Sky by Corretta Singer.

The French works to be featured are Les Triplettes de Belleville by Sylvain Chomet, La Reine Soleil by Philippe Leclerc and Une Vie de Chat by Alain Gagnol.

The film festival is being staged in recognition of International Animation Day on October 28 and marks the 11th staging of the event.
