UP TO press time yesterday, the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) said it had restored power supply to more than 75 per cent of its customers.

"Almost all of JPS's customers in western and southern parishes now have their regular power supply, and the company expects to have close to 90 per cent of its customers in St Catherine and the Corporate Area back on the grid by later tonight," the light and power company said in a release last evening.

However, the company says it is still facing challenges in the eastern parishes of St Thomas, Portland and St Mary, which were affected by damage to a major transmission line.

The company says it will continue restoration efforts late into the weekend.
