WESTERN BUREAU:

Inner-city Avalanche continued their good form in the Hi-Lyte Insports men's Western Basketball Championship, winning 34-32 over Boys Club Warriors in their match over the weekend.

Avalanche are one of four teams to remain unbeaten in the competition so far, after posting a second victory in as many games.

Fabian Johnson, with 11 points and seven rebounds, led Avalanche and got good support from Andy Simpson, who added seven points and four rebounds.

The Warriors found the going tough and barely managed to put two good quarters together, amassing three, five, 12 and 12 points, respectively over four quarters, as Avalanche took control of the game, even while allowing Warriors to rally to within two points at the end.

For the Warriors, Sheldon Lyle top scored with 15 points and Michael Parkinson added six points with five rebounds.

In another game, Omroy Kerr's game-high 23 points carried MoBay Cricket Club Knights to an impressive 94-67 win over Granville Wolfpack.

Kerr's all-round game included nine rebounds, as the Knights remained unbeaten after two rounds. Daniel Malcolm added 23 points for Knights, while Lemar Mitchell chipped in with 12 points.

Wolfpack had André Uter to thank for keeping them in the game, as he pulled down eight rebounds while dishing out four assists to go with his 20 points. Davian Thelwell scored 11 points and held onto seven rebounds for Wolfpack.

On Sunday, Rockybar Ballers held on for a nine-point victory over Muschett Cardinals, winning 60-51, with Tevin Kelly leading all scorers with 22 points. Roneall Isaacs, with 10 points, seven boards and two assists, provided main support, along with Christopher Gibbons, who added 10 points.

Meanwhile, Knibb Thunders handed Trelawny Tornadoes their first loss of the season, edging them 58-57, thanks in part to Huntley Duhaney's double-double.

Duhaney scored 14 points, held 12 rebounds and two assists as the Tornadoes ran out of fuel in spite of Anthoneil Watson's game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Wolfpack will seek to rebound against Cornwall Courts Chargers this evening at 6:30 in the day's only game.
