With the upsets continuing at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, led by the 42-1 outsider GLORIFICATION in the nightpan, both the Pick-9 and second Super-6 offer carryovers.
The Pick-9, which embraces all nine races, has $1.49 million in the kitty, while the second Super-6 from race four to nine offers a whopping $3.3 million.
For obvious reasons, we look at the second Super-6 which gets under way with a 4-y-o and up maiden condition race to be contested by eight moderate horses over 1600 metres.
The horses to note are FIRST OF ALL and KAYTEE, who has been knocking at the door, having finished second in her last two races over sprint distances. Although going as far as a mile on this occasion, KAYTEE (Orlando Foster up) is very fit, but I expect her to fall victim to FIRST OF ALL (Michael Grant), who is more adept over this sort of trip.
FIRST OF ALL stayed on to finish 43/4 lengths fourth to WINGS OF FURY over 1400 metres recently and should relish the additional furlong.
The fifth race for $350,000-$300,000 claimers over the straight-fight course should resolve itself into a straight fight between the course specialists SUPER DAVE and FABULOUSCONNECTION, both having good speed. SUPER DAVE, to be ridden by the tiny apprentice Prince Holder from the convenient mark of 50.0kg, is the faster of the two and is tipped to go all the way in a field of seven.
The sixth race, again over the straight, has a more difficult look about it, with the likes of SUMMER VICTORY, MY GIRL NALA, MERIT'S JET, POCKET ACE, ROSE GOLD and the recent winner HERBIOUS CORPUS having good claims in a nine-horse field.
Now that the Patrick Lynch-trained HERBIOUS CORPUS has seemingly settled down after that easy win over the course on October 3, the 4-y-o son of Traditional should follow up with champion jockey Dick Cardenas sticking with the ride.
Tussle for top honours
Briefly, old rivals LEOPOLD THE GREAT (Dane Nelson up) and WESTERN BULL (Cardenas) should fight out the finish of the seventh race over 1100 metres for maiden three-years.
The eighth race for the Caymanas Park 3-y-o Sprint over 1200 metres should see TOURING WITH RHEA, ROCKETEER and ROYAL BUD in a keen tussle for top honours. It should be close, but ROCKETEER, who was a fast-finishing second to MAKIN BOP over the distance on October 20, should catch the front-running TOURING WITH RHEA in deep stretch. Then, take the three-year-old filly EUSEBIA to win the closing $180,000 claiming race at the expense of MR BUTCHER and AUSTIN LUKE.
