THE EDITOR, Sir:
I think I see what the problem is. One part of the Government is happy that there is a CURE, and the other part is quaking in its boots because it's afraid of the consequences of its ill-informed granting of the exclusive licence to the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS).
If the Government has any conscience, it should take responsibility for its actions. For far too many times it has got away with hasty laws, where it didn't check the consequences, and has had to repeal them. Measure three times, then cut.
Instinctive, reactive lawmaking is the hallmark of this Government. If you hit your head on a low branch, 'Quick!', make a law against the branch. Meanwhile, far more important legislation, such as the building code, languishes in Parliament for years.
Man up, Government! Are you afraid of who would sue you if the CURE ruling is allowed to stand? And win. Do the right thing. Man up!
