WESTERN BUREAU:

Knibb Thunder stayed perfect in the Hi-Lyte Insports Western Conference Basketball Championship, after earning a 12-point victory, 63-51, over Muschett Cardinals in one of four matches over the weekend.

The Thunder had Shavaughn Reid (18 points, three rebounds, two blocked shots) to thank as he led the scoring to carry the Trelawny club to their third-successive win of the season. The loss condemned the Cardinals to a league-worst four losses and no win.

Huntley Duhaney was also instrumental in the win, grabbing 10 rebounds in a double-double display that also included 15 points, while Martin Belnavis scored 10 points.

Michael Schloss' 15 points and Shaquille Rose's 13 points and three rebounds were the best for the Cardinals, who had trouble getting the ball through the hoop all night in their typical wayward shooting manner.

Meanwhile, Aldain Anderson had a big night with his 27 points and three rebounds to lead Rockyballers to a lopsided 82-47 win over the Tornadoes, for whom Antoniel Watson recorded 17 points and pulled in 13 rebounds.

Daniel Henry chipped in with 10 points, but it was not enough for Tornadoes as Anderson's huge game and that of Dwayne Hart's 17 points made sure the game was over from midway the third quarter, after they had rattled up 28 points to pull away for the big win. Shooting guard Roneil Isaacs had 13 points and 11 rebounds for Rockyballers.

In other matches, Boys Club Warriors downed Cornwall Courts Chargers in a close 60-57 win, while Inner-City Avalanche continued their slide, slumping to a 51-42 loss - their second straight defeat - to Savannah J-Hawks.
