The Jamaica Epicurean Escape (JEE) is pleased to have the Creative Production and Training Centre (CPTC) as its media-production partner.
Maxine McDonnough, communications manager of the JEE, notes that food is now getting a great deal of attention from the media. "The relationship between food and the media has moved beyond simply advertising products. There is now a proliferation of food-related shows commanding a large viewership."
There are cooking shows, food-based reality shows, and travel shows focusing on the cultural cuisine of a country of region. There is a host of food magazines, and cookbooks are now almost guaranteed good sales. Chefs are, undoubtedly, the new 'rock stars' gaining for themselves huge fan bases. The JEE aims to celebrate chefs in Jamaica and the world. This can only be accomplished by partnering with the media here and abroad. The JEE will provide appealing and attractive content for audiences everywhere. In order to do that, the assistance of the CPTC was sought. Its expertise is well known."
Chantal Hylton-Tonnes, chief executive officer of the CPTC, is equally thrilled by the partnership. "The CPTC is excited to be associated with the inaugural staging of the JEE. As the official media-production partner, the CPTC will provide a full suite of production, technical and multimedia services to ensure that this exciting event is captured for delayed highlights broadcast on multiple platforms, including television, cable, Internet and social media," she said.
a 'must-attend' event
Hylton-Tonnes noted further that the JEE is poised to become a 'must-attend' event on the local cultural calendar, making it a natural fit with the CPTC, which is mandated to record, celebrate and market varied expressions of Jamaica's rich culture. Along with media production, the CPTC's new content distribution and marketing unit, JamVision, is exploring JEE post-event programmes for local and international markets.
McDonnough revealed that the association with CPTC had already borne fruit. "We recently completed a series of promotional shows featuring some of the participating chefs. These will be aired on CVM TV, Flow TV, several cable stations, and on our website and YouTube." The JEE will take place at Richmond Estate on December 1 and 2.
