Scent of Christmas

It is the season of sharing, and one very popular gift item will definitely be scents. Fragrances are top sellers this time of year, and those not in the know can easily get carried away.
Sales associate at the Garden State-based Sephora in New Jersey, Fariha Malek, noted that an almost sure way of making the best selection is to keep in mind the three scent categories within which perfume scents generally fall.
These are typically floral, fresh or woody. And choosing the category which best represents the person's taste, signature smell or personality should mitigate any major buying blunders.
"Bearing in mind that you at least know the person to the extent that you know the type of scents they go for, when you decide on the category it is then easier for you to make a smarter choice. So if you know that the person goes for more floral scents, then consider perfumes that are in that category," she advised.
She also added that to help customers with gift purchases, the store has started to retail gift packages with perfume samples. This is a way of allowing persons to decide on the ultimate fragrance they would want as a gift, to avoid any disappointments.
"Customers purchase the gift package and inside it are samples. The person who receives the gift will be able to choose which perfume they want from the sample and then present a voucher which is given to them to receive the fragrance."
Popular brands tend to pull greater attraction and attention, and for perfumes this is no different as fragrances with designer brand names are normally favoured choices.
One such fragrance is the Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, according to Malek. The perfume, she said, has been around for a while, but continues to be one of the store's bestsellers.
As for newcomers this Christmas season, the sales expert said that there are a number of fragrances that have surfaced in time.
She also highlighted that several packages have been created, giving persons more dollar value.
