Dancehall artiste Chozenn has collaborated with Magnum Tonic Wine to host Spanish Town's first official jerk festival. The event will be held at the Spanish Town Prison Oval on Sunday and, according to the artiste/promoter, it will be a family affair.

"I have always had a personal goal to see Spanish Town returned to its former glory, and entertainment is one thing that all Jamaicans can relate to. We all like music and festivities and so, with this event, I hope it's the beginning of togetherness and peace as families and friends eat and drink together. New friendship and relationships can be built; after all, Spanish Town Jerk Festival will be a family affair," he said.

The festival will is expected to start at 11a.m. and will run up to midnight. The Old Capital is expected to be fully covered in the aroma of food this Christmas.

"Imagine all your favourite succulent, juicy and unusual jerked delights ready to be indulged in at your fingertips. Booths will be ready to serve you, all hassle free. This is also a nice, clean event so be sure to bring the entire family, including the children."

If your intention is to make Christmas memorable, I believe this festival is the perfect icebreaker," Chozenn said.

Spanish Town Jerk Festival will feature a children's village called the Chubby Soft Drink Kiddies Village. It will be decked out with rides, games, clowns and magicians, among other attractions. The village will be open to children for the duration of the festival.

As to the action on the main stage, Chozenn disclosed that comedic duo of Apache Chief and Sarge will be the hosts for the day. Music will be provided by Chubroc/King Kong, DJ Najair, DJ Jerry and J Star.

Several artistes are also expected to perform, ranging from the gospel fraternity and the secular fraternity. Those expected to deliver clean lyrical content to the patrons include Omari, Jermaine Edwards, D'Angel, G-Whizz, T'nez, Lutan Fyah, Darrio, Navino, Specialist, Kiprich, Stylysh, Rising Star Anna, Lil Danger, Wowchi, Hypa, Highlight, Kkrytical, Juggla, Big Pop, Memzay, Tanto Blacks and, of course, Chronixx.

"Come out for the food and stay for the entertainment. I am grateful to Lascelles Jamaica (Magnum) for the support," Chozenn said. Other sponsors of the event include Conquering Lion White Rum, Digicel, Chubby, Busta, The Gleaner, Zip 103FM, BOOM Energy Drink, Sign Channel, Full Chaarged Ent and Foster Shots Photography.
