MOVE OVER chefs, there's a new team to replace you!
They surprised everyone, even themselves, so when it was announced that the accounts department team had won the Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort and Spa's inaugural department cook-off, it was unbridled excitement.
The event, sponsored by Rainforest Seafoods and CWH Gas, saw teams outside of the kitchen entering the competition and from the look and taste of things, the kitchen staff have nothing on them.
On the way to winning the trophy, gold medals and several other prizes, the accounts team, made up of Diana Bramwell, George Gairey and Gordon Grant, captured sectional prizes for most creative and best taste for their dish.
The unnamed dish consisted of fish, chicken, Irish potato, pasta and vegetables.
The team from the housekeeping department, made up of Anniesha Bennett, Karen Passley, Andre Brown and Taneisha Smith, finished second and guest services (Deloris Gauntlett, Alicia Mullings and Mario Smith), third.
Photoshop, water sports, spa, entertainment and food and beverage (bar) also entered.
Other sectional prizes went to entertainment for being most organised, with Daine Golaube of the water-sports team getting the prize for being adjudged best dressed chef.
Judges Kenya Riley and Olga Howsen of CWH Gas and Stewart Jacobs of Rainforest Seafood, both sponsors, praised the high quality of the dishes, which were not only aesthetically pleasing but tasted excellently.
