Gospel-reggae artiste Joel 'Bunny' Brown has slipped on his promoter's hat and is gearing up to host 'Bunny Brown and Friends Live in Concert' for the festive season. It will be held tomorrow at the Drunken Squid Lot 14, Greenwood, St James.
The concert will also feature veteran gospel-reggae singer George Nooks and up-and-coming reggae act Hezron. Music will be played by Merritone Music, with veteran DJs Winston Blake and Mikey Thompson from KOOL FM on the turntables.
Admission is $1,000 presold and $1,200 at the gate for regular entry, while VIP tickets will go for $1,500. Tickets can be purchased at Drunken Squid.
Brown said, "I decided to host the event because I have seen where the standard of our music has fallen internationally. The talent is here, so as a producer and an artiste I want to play my part to strengthen our musical culture". Depending on the success of this staging, it could lead to a concert series. "I want it to become a series every three months. For now it's one venue, but as the event goes on we might go to different venues to spread the positive music experience. This venue is amazing and the ambiance and environment is great."
"We have a lot of space for parking. It's close to Iberostar, and we have parking right along the strip. The security is strict and everything will be protected. I really want to sell Jamaica in a positive way and showcase our positive side, and music is the best avenue to use. So come out and bring your family, have some clean entertainment and the food is great. George Nooks, Hezron and myself have a good following in Montego Bay, so I think it is going to be an amazing event," Brown said.
