Reggae icon Toots & the Maytals has received a fifth Grammy nomination for his first ever acoustic album, featuring many of his classic hits. Arriving just in time for his 70th birthday celebration, this nod for Best Reggae Album follows Toots' most recent accolade bestowed on him, the distinguished Order of Jamaica (OJ) in October.

Toots & the Maytals' Reggae Got Soul - Unplugged on Strawberry Hill (Metropolis Recordings/ D&F Music/PHREE Music/Isis Productions/) is joined by other distinguished nominees Jimmy Cliff (Rebirth), Sly & Robbie (New Legend - Jamaica 50th Edition), Sean Paul (Tomahawk Technique) and the Original Wailers (Miracle).

Winner of the 2005 Grammy Award for Best Reggae album with the all-star duet album True Love, Toots & the Maytals' Unplugged on Strawberry Hill features acoustic performances of such classics as Sweet and Dandy, Monkey Man, Time Tough, Bam Bam, 54-46, Pressure Drop and Do the Reggae - the 1968 single widely credited with coining the word 'reggae' and naming the genre.

first ever documentary

Recorded and filmed live on Chris Blackwell's iconic Strawberry Hill property, framed by the Blue Mountains overlooking Kingston at sunset, this unique CD/DVD includes the filming of this historic recording session, along with the first ever official documentary of the artiste's story beautifully told by director George C. Scott, with liner note contributed by Grace Jones.

An extraordinary artiste who continues to unrelentingly share his energy, music and life with his fans, Toots just completed the first Unplugged tour of his career last month in support of the release. The sold-out 18-city US tour featured intimate acoustic performances complemented only by backing vocals, live percussion and bass, with the artiste sharing personal insights and laughs throughout his set.

The tour received amazing reviews from critics, outstanding ovations from audiences, and there are plans for a European run in 2013.
