Jermaine Edwards and Friends bring early Christmas
Christmas has always been one of the most celebrated times of the year for Christians and non-Christians alike, and this one will be no different. As such, one of gospel music's most noted musical ministers, Jermaine Edwards, will join forces with other musical giants to make Christmas an unforgettable one for music lovers.
The singer who is widely known for singles like Nothing Else Matters, Make You Smile, Destiny, and Never Lose My Faith featuring DJ Nicholas, will stage the Jermaine Edwards and Friends concert at the Karram Speid Auditorium, Constant Spring Road, today.
The concert, which will feature top ministers including DJ Nicholas, Kevin Downswell, Omari, Rondell Positive, Judith Gayle among others, will begin at 6 p.m.
Edwards, who is the only gospel artiste signed to communications titans Digicel as an ambassador, says persons can come out expecting to hear their favourite gospel hits all night long.
"In addition to that, it's going to be a lot of high-energy performances; the production is going to be one-of-a-kind, the lighting is going to be great so everyone can see, plus, of course, a wide range of food. Persons can definitely expect to leave with a smile,"said Edwards.
The gospel artiste wants to purchase equipment and travel across the island to minister to students, especially those in troubled communities, one of the major reasons for staging the concert.
"The concert is in aid of raising funds to buy PA equipment and a truck to transport them. We are going to do school empowerment tours which will include talks, motivation, career decisions, testimonials of people who came out of the ghetto, yet achieved their goals in spite of that. We will also be inviting corporate Jamaica and artistes who are good role models for our children to motivate, entertain and to inspire the greatness in everyone who will listen," said Edwards.
"This school tour will target inner-city schools, troubled communities which are exposed to violence, teen pregnancy and things like that. The fact is that inner-city children are more exposed to drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, abuse, begging and a host of other things. We want to reach out to them and counsel and motivate them. So this is the chief purpose of the concert, which will be an annual one. So everyone, come on out and celebrate great music with your friends and family because it's for a great cause."
Admission to the Jermaine Edwards and Friends concert will be $1,000 presold and $1,200 at the gate.
