Worthy Park Estate treats children of Lluidas Vale

WORTHY PARK, St Catherine:SANDRA BROWN smiled broadly as her daughter braved the mid afternoon sun at Worthy Park Estate in St Catherine on Wednesday to join others who turned out for the annual Christmas treat.

"I came here as a child every December for the gifts and games, now my children are here to enjoy themselves. It's like one big family and we love it," Brown recounted.

Others expressed similar views and added that it was a sweet experience.

Hundreds of children converged on a section of the sugar estate, which was transformed into a magnificent array of colours.

"This treat has been held for the last 40 years, and on each occasion, it gets bigger. This is how we say thanks to the community in which we operate," said organiser Billie Clarke.

Clarke, who was busy handing out gifts, said the treat, started by the late George Clarke and his wife, continues as a goodwill gesture. The children received gift packages, and enjoy the bounce-about and merry-go-round that were on hand.

It was the consensus that the annual treat remains a calendar event for Lluidas Vale.
