I want you to read the words below: OPPORTUNITYISNOWHERE
Some persons may read 'opportunity is nowhere'. Others may see 'opportunity is now here'!
That is how opportunity is, even when it is staring us in the face, some people see it and some don't.
This is the beginning of a new year and it is a year laden with opportunities. Let us embrace it and let us make the best of the opportunities it will present.
1. Change your frame.
If in 2013 you focus on everything that is wrong and missing, you are going to see the world through that filter or frame. If you focus on what is positive and what is possible, then you will see 2013 through that frame. It is, therefore, important that we change our filter, our frame, in 2013, so that we will allow ourselves to focus on the positives, on what is right instead of what is wrong. Let us focus our energy on what is possible instead of what is impossible. Let us focus our energy on what exists instead of what is missing.
2. Let us face the crisis.
This year, like every year, will present many crises. There will be personal crises that we all must face, whether it is a health crisis, a family or work crisis, be prepared, they will come. This country, like many countries, also faces enormous financial crises, but we will overcome. The Chinese word for crisis means danger and opportunity. Behind every crisis lurk many dangers, but there are also tremendous opportunities. So, while we confront the crises of 2013, let us not only face them with courage, but let us seek out the many opportunities.
3. Grasp opportunity.
This year as the many opportunities present themselves, let us seize them and make use of them. It may be an opportunity to go back to school, to further your career. It may be an opportunity for promotion in your organisation. It may be an opportunity to earn money. It may be an opportunity to enjoy personal friendships. Whatever it is, make the best of the opportunities. We sometimes
allow ourselves to be crippled by fear and failing, and so we do not grasp opportunities.
This stands for PASSING OVER OPPORTUNITY REPEATEDLY. Many of us remain poor in pocket, poor in spirit and poor in every sense of the word because we pass over opportunity repeatedly. Let this not be your experience this year.
5. Be fearful when others are greedy and be greedy when others are fearful.
In 2013, there is a lot of fear because of the uncertainties about the economy. Do remember that we should be greedy when others are fearful. It may be the best time to purchase that house or piece of land, as there will be lots of bargains around. It may be a good time to return to school, as it may be less competitive to get into the institution you want to enter. Take your chances and make rational decisions in 2013.
6. Be careful who you listen to.
A bald-head man once came to my grandmother to sell her hair grower. She politely declined to make a purchase and later explained to me that a bald-head man cannot advise her to buy hair grower. If you want to purchase a house, be careful of taking advice from someone who lives in a rented house. They may very well give you bad advice. This year, be careful of the voices you listen to. There are many persons who are negative and they will contaminate your thoughts and actions with negative thoughts and words and, therefore, prevent you from grasping opportunities.
My dear friends, 2013 with all its challenges will be a year of great opportunity. Have a wonderful and successful year.
