French Connection has done it again. Dubbed 'The Magnificent', the staple New Year's Eve party lived up to its glamorous expectations at the Constant Spring Golf Club.
Minutes before midnight, lines at the entrance were so long patrons still outside feared they would not make it into the party in time to ring in the new year. When the clock struck 12, as is customary, the sky was lit up with a barrage of fireworks that ushered in 2013.
In the usual French Connection style, the venue was elegantly and lavishly decorated. As patrons walked the red carpet they were greeted by a host of 'paparazzi', all eager to snap their pictures.
The super all-inclusive event had bars strategically placed around the venue and patrons did not hesitate to top up their glasses in toast to the new year. The food court was also impressive, with a delectable array of items.
variety of genres
DJ Charisma ushered in the new year on a high note. Playing a variety of genres, he had the crowd dancing up a storm with hits such as Together Forever by Rick Astley and Ice, Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice, before moving into more recent hits including Work It by Missy Elliott and Tambourine by Eve.
With more patrons making their way on to the dance floor, it was time for DJ Shane to ignite the party from the turntables. His set was a mixture of R&B and pop, which was a good combination for the audience of mostly young people.
Rihanna's We Found Love and Only Girl In the World got patrons in the mood while Party Like a Rockstar by LMFAO had them in a frenzy. With glasses raised in the air, patrons showed their appreciation for the 'tunes' with their fingers imitating guns.
Selector Jazzy T's set started off with conscious reggae music including Our Father in Zion by Buju Banton and Welcome to Jamrock by Junior Gong, which pleased the audience.
As it neared 2 a.m., the latest dancehall songs had the female patrons bubbling up a storm. Many kicked off their heels so as not to impede their dancing session. The wining and daggering continued with females bending over in front of their partners, who were all too willing to dance with them.
With all the elements in place including good food, liquor and a nice vibe, French Connection was a fitting end to 2012 and an impressive start to the new year.
