If you are buying a bra with underwire, make sure it sits on your bone and not on breast tissue, as this causes scarring.

Wearing the correct size bra provides not only the perfect foundation for your clothes, it also makes you feel more confident knowing your 'fruits' are well supported.

Make 2013 fashionable by starting it off right. A good place to start is with that all-important foundation garment - your bra. Whether you're an A or KKK, for most women, finding the right combination of design and fit feels more like a fleeting dream.

According to Passion of Passion Fruits, the major mistake most women make is not realising that there are two main features to a bras - the cup size and band size (around the back) which should work together. Passion notes that when a bra does not fit properly, women tend to think that the problem is with their body, not the bra.

But regardless of your body size, there is a bra to fit you perfectly. A fit is perfect when the middle or centre lies flat against your chest. Ensure that the cups hold your breasts completely and that all the bones of the bra rest on the bones in your body, and not breast tissue. This can lead to scarring over time.

For many, shopping for bras in Jamaica can be daunting and even depressing. Passion advises approaching the task with an open mind.

"Be aware of your body, its needs and your own sense of style. It is important to remember the bra serves you and not the other way around. You have to remember what constitutes the right fit and trust your instincts. If it doesn't feel right or look right, walk away."

Wearing the right bra reduces 'bra wounds' such as indented shoulders and rib cuts from bones jutting out.

Many women also go through life wearing the same size, regardless of whatever changes their body goes through. Having children, or weight gain all affect your bra size so it's important to get measured twice per year.
