Member of parliament for North East St Ann, Shahine Robinson, is seeking an order from the Supreme Court staying the bankruptcy notice served on her last year.

Robinson is contending that the notice should be stayed until the appeal she filed against the costs of $15.3 million has been decided by Justice Lennox Campbell.

She is seeking a significant reduction of the amount.

The costs stemmed from the election petition which elector Manley Bowen had filed against her in relation to her dual citizenship at the time of the general election in 2007.

Pusey has adjourned the matter to January 18 when further submissions will be made.

Bowen's lawyers served the notice on Robinson on December 12 last year for her to pay the money within seven days or face bankruptcy proceedings.
