A St Mary woman was yesterday taken into police custody after allegedly slitting the throat of her infant earlier in the day.
The 34-year-old woman of Annotto Bay, St Mary, is reported to be of unsound mind.
It is reported that she had gone to the police yesterday, asking them to take the child but they did not.
She allegedly returned home and killed the 11-month-old.
She was being held at a police station awaiting a medical evaluation.
The woman is reported to have other children.
