Oliver McIntosh - president & CEO of SportMax Limited and Alex Morrissey - consultant - Jamaicans Music.Com were among the 50 future leaders selected in last year's Gleaner-Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica '50UnderFifty' entrepreneurs to watch for the future. At the start of this year, we asked them what's on their wish list for Jamaica and this is what they said.

I have two wishes for Jamaica this year:

1. More tax incentives for small businesses.

2. Lower/competitive energy rates.

- Alex Morrissey

In the past year we have experienced the paradox of Jamaica - events that make ours the greatest country to live in, but at the same time serious criminal activity that threatens to put our country into a state of anarchy, seemingly without anyone being accountable or shocked anymore.

The country's custodians must focus on two critical development elements: arm all our people with training and education to make Jamaica attractive and competitive as well as implement banking and financing policies that promote investment and entrepreneurship which will create jobs and fuel our economy. Jobs plus education will do more to fight crime than any increase in policing ever will!
