Harassment by NSWMA

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I write on behalf of my two brothers, as well as for myself. We are investors from India who operate businesses in Kingston and St Catherine.

A few weeks ago, a man who identified himself as a National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) enforcement officer came to our business place. He said he was conducting an audit for NSWMA and claimed that we owed for five months of garbage collection. We showed him our receipt, which proved that we owed nothing, and he left without even apologising.

We want to know where his company records were. Does the NSWMA have the authority to 'audit' companies?

Please assist us, because this is not how business is done in our country. In addition, the garbage-collection service is no good, yet we still pay every month.
