"Magnificent", "first class" and "superb" are some of the superlatives expressed by opera fans who are enjoying the best seat in the house during the Met Opera in HD 2012-13 season. It is live on screen at Carib 5, with encore performances at other Palace Amusement cinemas.

Many persons have not missed a performance to date and as attendance grows, newcomers openly voice their incredulity at the sheer splendour of the experience. It is rendered even more palpable with Palace Amusement's premium digital-projection systems and exclusive HPS-4000R sound systems, known for their clarity and powerful bass.

Exclusive backstage passes

In addition to the world-class productions, audiences also enjoy exclusive backstage passes, which offer an enthralling behind-the-scenes look at the Met. These come complete with enlightening téte--tétes with performers, directors, set designers, and conductors, as well as elaborate set changes of epic proportions.

The extensive production which the Met undertakes to bring an opera to the stage takes weeks and sometimes months of rehearsals, involving hundreds of cast members as in Aida. Sets are constructed and decorated in vast carpentry shops; there are departments for wardrobe, make-up and wigs where singers are groomed for the stage; kitchens where food is prepared as props; rehearsal rooms where productions evolve; the massive stage complex where the opera unfolds; and the crown jewels auditorium.

On Sunday, Maria Stuarda will encore at 11:30 a.m. at Palace Cineplex, Odeon Cineplex, and Palace Multiplex. On Saturday, February 16, Rigoletto plays live at Carib 5 at 12:55 p.m.
