New Image Promotions is gearing up to host the first staging of a new weekly event, Energy Fridays. The party specialises in music from the late 1990s and early 2000s, played by DJs experienced in the period.

This is not New Image's first retro music-oriented event, but a representative of the company noted that weekly throwback parties are rare. "This party will pull a younger audience than our other retro parties because it simply targets a younger audience. Plus, the music will be from the '90s and 2000s," the New Image representative said.

The promoters said music from the 1990s is known to have facilitated dancing in parties and he wants that atmosphere to be maintained at Energy Fridays. "The music of the '90s era was good and the 2000s was also good, because they brought a lot of dancing. So that is why we are using music from both eras, because the goal is to get the people dancing and reminiscing on those eras. There are a lot of Friday parties but nothing dedicated to retro music, so there is definitely a market for that," the New Image representative said.

Energy Fridays will be hosted at The House, 123 Constant Spring Road, St Andrew, and feature DJ Marvin from FAME FM and DJ Alpachino. Tickets are $800 presold and $1,000 at the gate. The party is sponsored by Rum-Bar Rum Cream, Lucozade and Sling Shot Roots Wine. Patrons will be treated to free shots for the entire night, courtesy of the sponsors.

The venue will have two designated parking areas, manned by security personnel.

New Image is upbeat about promotions for the party series. The plan is to start at 9 p.m. and go until morning. According to the New Image representative, patrons will party in comfort. "The House is a fabulous venue and we are expecting to have a fabulous time with two fabulous DJs. There are a lot of Friday events, but none like this," he said.
