Dears, the dates for this year's galas have been confirmed and, as we speak, the buzz is all about the annual Sugar Cane Ball, hosted by the Hanover Charities, at the trés chic Round Hill Hotel and Villas, over there near Montego Bay. Luvs, the 'save date' reminder is out and the date for this annual fabfest is February 16. Chairperson for this year's event, the fab Manuela Goren, and her team are promising a night to remember under the theme 'A Night at Studio 54'.

Dears, we are talking a night of celebrity, glitz and high glam here, as the annual Sugar Cane Ball represents the premiere fund-raising event for Hanover Charities, and with the theme being 'A Night at Studio 54', you know we are talking international jetsetters and the fabulocracy here, and nothing but, with cocktails and dinner, disco dancing, silent auction, and raffle, that promises to be a night of razzle and dazzle at one of the Caribbean's most glamorous destinations.

Pumpkins, a must-attend and nothing but, so more definitely anon!

And, still speaking of fabulous occasions, people and places, the American Friends of Jamaica, that notable charity supported by philanthropic Americans and Jamaicans, with a view of promoting Jamaica and its primacy in regional and world affairs, will be honouring two persons - trailblazing entrepreneurial grand dame Thalia Lyn and track and field star coach, Glen Mills - with its International Humanitarian Award. This will be at its Miami gala, slated for the Miami Four Seasons Hotel on Saturday, April 3. This promises not only to be a stellar outing, but the gala of galas, as chair Ambassador Brenda La-Grange-Johnson is promising no less.

Dears, talk about worthy recipients, well, these two Jamaicans who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields have not only brought international recognition to their homeland, but theirs is still a work in progress with some saying their best is yet to come. So you know we are talking worthy honourees here!
