Put truth in context

Published: Saturday | January 26, 2013 Comments 0

THE EDITOR, Sir:

George Davis' 'The truth shall set you free', published in The Gleaner on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, was an excellent article. Continue to excel as a journalist.

One point on truth, though, which was not in the article is that truth must be put in context or perspective. Truth without context still remains as truth, but it may not give the full picture or the real story.

For example, a lot of persons who are against tax increases at this time are of the view that the tax authorities should seek to collect some of the shortfall from tax dodgers/evaders, and persons not paying taxes, etc., instead of placing further burden on those who are already paying.

Excellent article, though, and that's the truth!
