Cape Verde joined hosts South Africa in the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations yesterday after the small island nation scored two late goals to secure advancement in their first appearance in the tournament.
Cape Verde netted an injury-time winner to come from behind and beat Angola 2-1, knocking out Morocco in the process.
Morocco wasted the lead twice against South Africa, which drew 2-2 after Siyabonga Sangweni's 87th-minute equaliser avoided an early elimination for the nervous home team.
South Africa finished top of Group A with the Cape Verdeans coming second, prolonging an entertaining stay at their first major tournament.
