The Portmore Society is gearing up to host a new event, Image. The pool party will be hosted at Constant, Spring Golf Club, St Andrew, on Sunday, and according to Portmore Society member Shamoi Thompson, it is expected to spark a new pool culture.

"This is a pool party and we want it to set a trend with fashion. This is a poolside party with regular elements that come with a hype party and, though this is the first staging, if this one is a success, it might become an annual event," Thompson said.

Image is being promoted heavily on social networks, a platform which the promoter believes is able to reach the target audience. "We have a promotional team, Portmore Society has a street team and we have developed a reputation for hosting successful events. We are currently using social media like Twitter and Facebook and they are very effective, because a lot of working class and young people get the bulk of their information from there. Based on your following, you can generate a lot of patrons and you can get a better idea of how much persons you can expect at the event beforehand," he said.

No presold tickets

There will be no presold tickets to attend Image, and admission at the gate is $1,000. Female patrons will be admitted free before 8 p.m., with the full cost applicable after.

Associate sponsor of the party, Conquering Lion White Overproof Rum, will deliver special deals on flasks of their liquor. Patrons are advised to drink responsibly.

The musical juggling will be carried out by three credible DJs, two locally based and one from the international scene. DJ Flabba Dabba and Chromatic are the Jamaicans, with Canada's DJ Viper in the mix.

Image will start at 2 p.m. and is expected to go until 10 p.m. Patrons are urged to turn out early, bearing in mind that the party will be held at the pool area of the Constant Spring Golf Club. The club has a designated, secure parking area.

"The venue will be specially decorated, and we have a wow factor that we don't want to reveal as yet. We have an international DJ, so the music will reflect variety. So come out early and enjoy the experience that Image has to offer," Thompson said.
