Many-time national championship winners, Oneil Samuels and Marloe Rodman, are among the big names in cycling that will contest today's Jamaica Cycling Federation's (JCF) Blue Mountain Time Trial.
The event, which is the first race on the JCF's 2013 calendar, starts at 7:30 a.m. at the Blue Mountain Inn and will conclude at Cafe Blue in Irish Town, Irish Town.
Just over 40 cyclists will compete for categorical prizes for first, second and third-place elite, women's elite, masters, super masters, women's recreational, junior and mountain bike.
President of the JCF, Edward Harper, said the time trial is an important event as far as the preparation of the the cyclists is concerned.
"The Blue Mountain Time Trial will be an interesting season opener which will show where some riders are so far in their preparation. We are also hoping that this ignites some excitement for new and already registered riders to get involved in more of the activities we have planned for this year such as our anti-doping symposium in April and cross-country rides such as the Bikeathon Negril Challenge," Harper said.
