President of The Mico University College, Professor Claude Packer, is set to step down as president of the institution.
In an advertisement posted in The Sunday Gleaner, the board of directors at the university said it was seeking a suitable applicant to take over the post.
On Monday, the university declined to say why the professor had decided to call it quits, and added that Packer would not be taking part in any interview at this time.
In the meantime, director of alumni and development, Sharon Wolfe, said the professor's contribution to the institution has been phenomenal, but that the change was necessary.
"A process has started, we don't know how long that process will take. Professor continues to contribute to his alma mater and, as with any large and complex organisation, we are moving forward with Professor Packer at the moment. Change is the benchmark of every successful organisation," Wolfe said.
