Woman Corporal Valrie McIntosh, along with two constables, Shaniel Anderson and Otwani Deer, all of the Constant Spring Police Station, was yesterday arrested, charged and taken before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court for Breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act by members of the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB).

In January of this year, the corporal and the two constables allegedly went to the house of an accused man who was out on bail and had breached his bail conditions.

It is alleged that the three corruptly solicited $100,000 from the accused man in order not to place him in custody.

Fifty thousand dollars was paid over, while an arrangement was made for the remainder to be paid the following day.

A report was subsequently made to the ACB and an investigation was launched, following which a file was submitted to the director of public prosecutions who ruled that the three be charged.

They were each granted bail in the sum of $600,000 with conditions. They must also report at the station three times per week and surrender their travel documents.

They are scheduled to return to court on March 26.
