A nice spin on getting creative with tie-dye paired with brown spandex makes the top of the swimsuit definitely not ordinary.

Two Thousand and Thirteen has started on the right note for swimsuit designer Cady Ann Brown. Next month she will be making her way to Miami Fashion Week.

Earlier this month, Brown collaborated with her business partner, Julené Dixon, to host a fashion and beauty expose, which, among other things, exposed persons to her swimwear line, Tantrik.

Tantrik swimwear has been around since 2008 but was relaunched last year, and since then has really taken off for the young entrepreneur.

"I was contracted to do a lot of promotional outfits for corporate and liquor companies, especially in the summer for the ATI weekend in Negril," she gushed to Flair.

Tantalising and teasing pieces

A former Miss Jamaica Fashion Model, Brown said the name 'Tantrik' really suggests tastefully tantalising and teasing pieces for the adventurous and fun woman.

An entertainment law student at the University of London, Brown noted that her pieces are reflective of the tropics.

She sites the climate, beaches and local culture and vibe as her greatest inspirations when choosing designs and colours.

Now preparing for her Miami Fashion Week appearance, which is partly sponsored by Axe Apollo, the 25-year-old is excited about the opportunities that may come her way.

"I have a friend who is a hat designer in the United States and he connected me with a fashion marketer over there. She has invited persons from TJ Max and Burlington to view my pieces at the show, so I am hoping that at the end, I can get my pieces in their stores, tapping into an overseas market."

With the aim of showing 21 pieces at the show, the designer notes that in the future, she hopes to branch off into other beach-friendly accessories.

"I want to go into sandals and handbags by summer of this year. I am keeping it in the beach-friendly line." she notes.
