Henry siblings top Tournament of Kings

Henry siblings Geordine and Gareth emerged champions of the Open events at the Sports Development Foundation-sponsored Tournament of Kings (singles only) badminton championship, which ended on Sunday evening at the Constant Spring Golf Club's Racquet Complex.

There were some good performances throughout the weekend event, at which the only double winner was Christina Petri, who won both the Division B and C ladies' singles.

Gareth Henry, who at 197 is currently the highest-ranked Jamaican badminton player in the world, defeated the Caribbean Under-17 champion, Samuel Ricketts, who was unseeded, in the male final 21-14, 21-15.

Gareth's sister Geordine put away Ruth Williams 21-13, 21-14 in the female Open final.

Men's singles: Jemarey Gordon defeated Oshane Morgan 21-11, 21-11

Ladies' singles: Christina Petri defeated Cristal Smith 21-13, 21-11

C Division

Men's singles: Shane Wilson defeated Tremat Barham 21-17, 21-15

Ladies' singles: Christina Petri defeated Cristal Smith 21-15, 21-13

D Division

Men's singles: Imran Thomas defeated Sean Rowe 21-10, 21-17

Ladies' singles: Camille Ayre defeated Shannon Morgan 18-21, 21-17, 21-5
