TRAGEDY STRUCK in Cedar Valley, St Catherine, yesterday when a two-year-old child was killed by a utility vehicle whose driver had gone to her family's home to install cable service.
Eyewitnesses reported that Kimberly Trottman, who was from Lignum Vitae Way, in Cedar Grove, was struck by the vehicle at her gate in the mid-morning accident that left relatives traumatised.
"We were told that a bus registered to (name withheld) utility company was parked (at the gate). The little girl walked out and the van drove off and hit her," a senior investigator revealed.
The St Catherine South police are leading the investigations.
Relatives wept openly when The Gleaner news team visited the community yesterday.
"Mi granddaughter dead. I just cannot believe that after mi kiss har this morning, she dead and mi nah go see har again," George Trottman, the child's grandfather, bemoaned.
