I … urge the Government to make official representation to both the German Embassy in Jamaica AND the European Union officials in Brussels. The advertisement is neither entertaining nor imaginative and surely, we can see the subliminal message of prejudice against the country. I, for one living in Europe, am very uncomfortable with my flag being burned and stomped on in such manner, especially as I do not understand the purpose of such a poor advertisement.
It might have been an attempt to demonstrate the popularity of Jamaica when persons rallied around to protest. However, we cannot allow this store to gain publicity at our expense. We do see national flags being burned on news stories, especially when Middle Eastern countries show their disgust at American foreign policies. This action in itself is not acceptable but taken in the context of political warfare.

So what is the Government going to do about it? Do you think they would do this to the USA flag? This is very disrespectful, so don't give them an inch.

They are not going to get very far with this distasteful ad. There is going to most likely be more negative feedback than positive feedback. Sooner than later, hindsight should kick in, and there will most likely be an apology or some kind of denouncement. Just sit tight on this one. After all, who are they trying to sell to, Nazi Germany?

It was truly disturbing and pregnant with satire. It's an insult to our intelligence and our national pride! There are so many ways our culture/prominence Internationally could have been portrayed if that was the intention.
As a nationalistic Jamaican, I am offended and did not for a second see an element of humour in it. Of all the songs our artistes have produced, you chose to play Murderer?!
(For those who feel inclined to talk about our other 'more important' problems,) it still doesn't negate the fact that the video is highly disrespectful! If some of us had more national pride, then we wouldn't go about trying to put down each other and we would appreciate and support our national initiatives and local businesses more.

One can only desecrate something holy or revered, and the Jamaican flag is neither, so cut the false outrage. You have, collectively, almost destroyed the country and this should be the source of genuine outrage, but it seems we are too dazed to muster anything of the kind.

It's not funny!

There have been mixed reactions to the commercial by the Germany-based electronics store Saturn which depicts a Jamaican flag catching fire and efforts to put out the flames, including stomping on the flag on the ground. Here are some of the reactions from readers at www.jamaica-gleaner.com.
