Yendi Phillipps catapulted into our lives in 2007 after winning the Miss Jamaica World Beauty pageant. A few years later, she made history by being the highest-placed Miss Jamaica Universe contestant in the international competition.

A philanthropic businesswoman with an infectious smile and a sense of style that is always changing, Yendi sits with us as she shares her 'Style Moments'. According to the new mom, "For me, being stylish means allowing my outfit to speak to how I feel on any given day and ultimately feeling amazing in whatever look I choose. I don't have one particular style; some days it's boho-chic, some days rocker-glam and otherwise perhaps sophisticated-glamour."

5 style must-haves

Glowing/dewy skin - I think one's look is much more than the outfit. I often moisturise the skin and put on a bit of bronzer for a youthful glow.

Comfort - personally, I must be comfortable in what I wear. Clothes, shoes, hair ... the works. Struggling to walk in shoes or wearing a dress that's just too tight ruins the air of 'flyness' which goes hand-in-hand with being stylish.

Confidence - confidence will allow anyone to rock even a garbage bag and have people asking who designed it!

Statement pieces - whether it is a necklace, an embroidered neckline, stunning earrings, it all allows your outfit to make a statement but not too many at one time.

A nice handbag - a great, neutral handbag that can be styled up or down for either the day or evening is the key to pulling a look together, and storing the million things I carry around.
