The Corporate Mingle series had a new venue last Friday, inside the refurbished Courts, Constant Spring store. Entertainment was courtesy of the comedy duo Ity and Fancy Cat.
We asked some minglers why they decided to attend the event and if they found it useful.
I think it's an avenue for professional development, so far it's thoroughly organised, fulfilling and fun. To meet new people within my age group - Jhannel Townsend, brand manager, Betco Premier Limited. First time at Corporate Mingle.
To meet people, exchange ideas, and make friends. I get information on certain things that are very useful - Sushil Jain, director, Mayberry Investments Limited. Attending Corporate Mingle for two years.
It doesn't feel forced. It's an opportunity to be around people in my industry. When I just got into the industry, it was a great opportunity to meet people - Ryan Strachan, manager, wealth division, Stocks & Securities. Attending Corporate Mingle for about three years.
With my line of business, it's always a great way to meet vibrant business leaders and potential leaders - Roy Reid, manager, client portfolios and investment strategies, Jamaica Money Market Brokers Ltd. Attending Corporate Mingle for three years.
One, I wanted to see the new Courts, I thought it was out of the ordinary from a hotel. Second, to meet people - Denise Garfield, chief accountant, JPS and Partners Co-operative Credit Union.
I've been told it's the new way of interacting with people to see the products they're selling. I don't think people are doing the mingling thing, they're more talking to people they already know. I think they should make an effort to make it more interactive. - Marjorie Plunkett - customer care agent, Jamaica Public Service. First time at Corporate Mingle.
There could have been more interaction, but aside from that, it's really good - Taunderia Williams, administrative assistant, Jamaica Public Service. First time at Corporate Mingle.
