THE EDITOR, Sir:
I agree with Orville Higgins' article 'Hurdling ISSA's academic bar' (Gleaner, March 8, 2013). However, in some cases, these students can read very well. They cannot, however, express themselves properly and in a way for others to understand. So I think that is the case here for Mr Skeen.
Many persons are also asking why he didn't go to a professional athletics club and save himself from all this embarrassment.
But I lift my hat to Mr Skeen. Why? It is clear that he doesn't want to go pro now, but rather get an education, so he is trying to exhaust all opportunities to get one. So why bash this young man about getting an education instead of running down money?
