Hanover woman disarms intruder

A brave woman yesterday faced up to a gunman who broke into her house in Green Island, Hanover, disarmed him and forced him to flee.

Reports from the Green Island Police are that about 4:30 a.m., the woman was asleep at her house when she was awoken by strange sounds.

She went to investigate and an armed man was seen entering through a front window. A struggle ensued between them, during which the firearm was taken from the assailant, who ran away and the police summoned.

The man was later arrested by the cops at his home at Kingsvale in the parish.

He is to face charges of illegal possession of a firearm, robbery and housebreaking.

His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
